Samarpana 2024 was a landmark event for Ahalya Dance Academy, presenting a vibrant showcase of Indian classical dance through a series of thoughtfully curated performances. Held on 22 June 2024 at the PASS Theatre, Granton College, Edinburgh, the event featured seven dedicated students who were trained to present the beauty and depth of classical dance in its most authentic form.
The evening was inaugurated by esteemed guests including Beata Skobodzinska, Diversity Officer at The City of Edinburgh Council, Mr Azad Singh, Consul at the Consulate General of India, and Mr Rajnish Singh, President of Edinburgh Diwali. Their presence added significance to the occasion and highlighted the growing appreciation for Indian classical arts in Scotland.
Each performance reflected the academy’s commitment to tradition, creativity, and excellence. The choreography was praised for its originality and purity, staying true to classical roots while offering a fresh and engaging experience for the audience. The final group performance of Kathanakuthoohalam Thillana was a true highlight of the evening, leaving the audience mesmerised with its energy, rhythm, and visual brilliance.
The event was hosted by Jiji Rajagopal, Director of Ahalya Dance Academy, whose narration and storytelling added depth and emotional resonance to each segment. Her presentation was widely appreciated for its clarity and ability to connect with the audience, creating a meaningful and immersive experience.
